Construction projects this next year will focus on Meadowlawn & Brookwood Elementary Schools.
Meadowlawn Elementary: Classroom additions, parent & bus loop reconfigurations
Brookwood Elementary: New gymnasium & collaborative learning addition, classroom addition, playground improvements, fine arts renovations, restroom renovations, technology & learning infrastructure upgrades, and safety & security upgrades
Meet the construction managers!
Matt Hulswit, Project Manager: After receiving a double bachelor’s degree in business administration and marketing in 2004, Matt served as an Assistant Crew Leader with Mile High Youth Corps, a non-profit focused on establishing hands-on job skills with youth ages 16 to 24. Through that experience he developed an interest in commercial construction and decided to earn a third bachelor’s degree in Construction Management. As O-A-K's Project Manager for Kentwood Public Schools, Matt oversees cost management, team communication and project documentation, ensuring the realization of project goals.
Levi Overway, Project Superintendent: Levi started his career in construction as an Assistant Superintendent and was promoted to a site supervisor based on exemplary performance in the field. He has been on site overseeing Kentwood projects for the past two years, most recently managing the covered walkway and sitework projects at the EKHS campus.
Rocky Oster, Project Superintendent: Rocky is an experienced site leader with 20 years of commercial construction experience. He holds a bachelor's degree in construction management from Ferris State University and his experience with Kentwood Public Schools include the gymnasium and kitchen expansion to Meadowlawn Elementary in 2018, and west wing renovations at EKHS in 2014.
