Kentwood Public Schools officially opened the Culinary Arts classroom at East Kentwood High School on Monday, Nov. 13, 2023, with a ribbon-cutting event.

Culinary Arts students prepared and served food by utilizing the skills they learned inside the classroom to guests who attended the event.

The 8,000 sq. ft. classroom is part of the 2021 bond, replacing a 1970s-era kitchen with a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen that can accommodate more than twice the number of students the previous classroom could hold.

The space also features a cafe and a cafeteria-like area for students to cook and eat their creations.
